Magnetron

Post by Yearwood »

Seems after 15 years the magnetron on our Furuno Model 1622 has failed. Questions ...
- Anyone have a good source of replacement magnetrons?
- Is this an easy replacement or is complex tuning required?

Thanks

Replace the entire radar. You'll get much better performance from a current generation model.

You may not find one through the usual channels. Can you get a part number for it? If you replace it yourself, be cautious it's all wired correctly as they carry very high voltage.

I do have the part number and the only source I found was suspect (not a dealer, known vendor, repair co.) and quoted a price of $450.
