A25 Anchor Locker mod
I've got the windlass installed (except the wiring), just waiting for the caulking to cure before tightening up. So now I am directing my attention to the locker. I don't use the bow storage for anything so I removed the floor of the anchor locker (the upper bin) in order to have a good clear fall for the rode as recommended. The pic below is before removing the partition, I include it as a memory aid.
I want to hang a door/cover of some type to hide the lower cut-out that will contain the pile of chain and rope. I bought a piece of 1/4 in 1sg ply but I am a terrible carpenter and I am looking for a simple way to attach. I thought perhaps someone here might have already done this. Any ideas? The pic below shows the windlass on the makore base, waiting for the cleat installation.

Re: A25 Anchor Locker mod
Nice clean looking installation. I like it! (green with envy )
I would think it wouldn't be too hard to make cover/doors. Maybe hinge them on the lower edges (separate panels for upper & lower openings) with piano type hinges, with chain or straps that won't let them open by more than 90 degrees, and simple cabinet type latches, say maybe the magnetic type or something more substantial that won't let them fall open from vibration or shock. Or alternatively hinge on the upper edge so they're less likely to fall open.
I'd love to do something like that, but would likely settle for a manual windlass like this Lofrans instead of going to the trouble of all that extra wiring.

Re: A25 Anchor Locker mod
I am leaning toward a suggestion made by a member of the Albin 25-27 FB page: heavy material cut to shape and secured by snap buttons. That way my wife's sewing skills can take over where my non-existent carpentry skills leave off!

Yes, that could certainly work. A naugahyde type vinyl type material in a suitable matching color with piping or edge binding would be very functional & attractive.

Prolly a 55" flat screen behind that door. Mounted above the bar. Next to the pool table. That holds the anchor when not in use.

Behind the doors is a storage cupboard, but there is a plastic gutter downpipe going through that feeds the anchor cable and rope to the smaller compartment below.

I like that idea. Any chance of a picture of that pipe?
