Running lights

Post by BobHaze »

My starboard running light is out and I can't figure out how to get the cover off to get at the bulb. It's an Aqua Signal DHI 01/02/80 and I'm assuming it's original equipment. I've pushed, pulled, squeezed and tried to look from underneath. Any help would be appreciated.

It's almost certainly an AquaSignal Series 41. There's a small phillips screw at the bottom. I've posted a picture of a white set below. The screw is easier to see on the white.

Loosen that and it pivots off from the bottom.

Good time to change to LED while you're at it. West Marine carries the lamps - Dr. LED. Can't recall the model just now. :)

Thanks Doug! You can't see the little screw unless you lean way outboard and lean overboard, but there it was and it worked. LED lights are definitely on the work list for this winter, but for now I'm just going to replace the bulb.

I purchased LED light bulbs on Amazon and got a great price and a perfect match. I replaced all the bulbs on the inside fixtures and now, if I switch all 12 interior lights on, I use the same amount of power as one regular bulb. Well worth switching.

Can you post (or message me) a link to the light bulbs you bought on Amazon to replace interior albin 28 incandescent bulbs please.

The incandescent bulbs get hot fast.

Thanks

I bought my interior LED's from eBay. I think they worked out around £0.99p each. Been using them for three years now without a fault. I'll see if I can find them.

Here's the link on the forum but I can't find the fitting size. I think it was a T10 wedge and the ones I bought were flat with 9 SMD's and circular in shape.

Absolutely Russ! They're just as bright as the original halogen bulbs. Just mount them facing upwards so the spread of light works against the reflector in the light fitting.

You've gotta be kidding me! I paid many multiples of that amount four years ago for 10-LED bulbs. And I wish they were brighter.

I'm curious what light fixtures you have. Ours don't have a reflector.

Mine are identical Nancy except they have a thin sheet of aluminium in them that acts as a reflector. Looks like yours have been removed at some point.

Drat. I wonder where I could find replacement material. Is it thin enough to cut with a scissors? Is it more rigid than aluminum foil (such as we use in the kitchen)?
