Adding freshwater wash down to existing saltwater system

I have the standard s/w washdown in the port corner. I want to add freshwater as well for reels, lures, etc. what is the best way to do this withou adding another pump, spigot, hose, etc. has anyone added a y valve before the existing pump? Thanks in advance.

I just use the shower head on the transom. Otherwise all of the freshwater plumbing is all push fit plastic pipe. Adding a new outlet will only need a cut in the cold water feed and a T piece in the system, possibly a couple of 90° fittings etc.

In addition to a saltwater wash I also have a fresh. Had it on my 28 as well. As previously stated a T was utilized and cut into the fresh water line after the existing pump. An easy addition.

Above the aft berth ceiling will give access to the area that mine is located. I'll text you a picture of its location today. Great yelling at you the other day in Avalon my dives were great. We are leaving today for Dana Point.

Hey Mike,

I see in your original post that you're looking to use one spigot for both saltwater and freshwater wash down by using a y valve. IMHO that's not a great idea. You now have the possibility of running saltwater into your freshwater system if the valve goes bad and the pressure drops on the fresh side. Keep them separate. Taping in a new freshwater spigot is realaively easy, or use the shower of you have one.

I agree both systems shall not meet. I was thinking adding a Y was a tee. I think he said he wanted both. Anyway my raw water washdown is Starboard with a couled hose holder. Thats what I would do.
