27 and 30 FC

Post by Champlain72 »

I'm very interested in the 27FC. I find more for sale with the Peugeot Leham and Nissan motors then the isuzu. I was told to spend a little more and get the newer one with isuzu or yanmar diesel. Parts are more readily available and it's a lot quieter then the lehman. The nissan is a Maxima motor marinized I am told. What is your opinion. Also the 30 family cruiser is a little larger with a much heftier price tag. Is the extra room worth it? I won't have many people with be but I am worried about sleeping comfortable. I am 6'3" and 350lbs. I read that the rear cabin is much larger on the 30. Is this true. Thank you Bryan Coastal South Carolina.

Brian, That extra 3' of length equates to about 30% more interior volume. I'd recommend the 30 for you. I have the 27 and it's perfect for the wife and I. I'm only about 5'10 and the wife is about 5' 3. I know I'd have a permanently crooked neck if I was 6'3. Ben

I agree. Brian, go try on a 27FC for size and then look at the 30 and I'm sure your decision will be made for you at that point - It's not just the sleeping quarters that you'll have a problem with. I'm trying to picture a 6'3" 350 pound guy trying to use the head . . . . or even going into that cramped space and trying to turn around. I'm 5'11" and 170 pounds and the head is on the claustrophobic side for me!
