1978 Cored Hull
I'm considering the purchase of a 1978 Albin 36. Has anyone out there installed a through hull on an Albin this age? Is it balsa cored? How thick is the fiberglass? I believe the hulls were made in Tiawan back then.

Re: 1978 Cored Hull
My 86 is not balsa cored, might be solid glass. I replaced my thru-hull transducer and a seacock last year. Seemed pretty thick...3/4" or so?

Thanks Mike, Hope to look at the boat next week. Just finished sailing 3 days in the fog off the coast of Nova Scotia. Hope your weather is better.

I thought our trip through RI sound was bad last week, but three days! Brochure in documents section of the forum says solid glass in the hull, so should be no worries there. It's the decks that are problematic.

Yes the hulls are solid fiberglass. I have installed and removed several thru hulls in mine.
