28TE prop

Post by ksquared »

Been having a rough go of the new to me boat-on the maiden voyage I had a cooling hose blow out, back to the yard. But prior to the voyage I had the prop pulled and there was a bushing. The prop shop stated that it is likely this is not the original prop. Since I am the 3rd owner, I do not have a complete history.

So are the 28TE props fitted with a bushing or is this a replacement?

Thx in advance. Kevin

As far as the prop bushing, no that does not sound original. Is it bronze (hopefully) or plastic (hopefully not) ?

And cooling hoses just don't blow, so be sure to get to the underlying cause...

Do you have 2 nuts on the shaft to hold the prop on? Did they use the bushing because they lost a nut?

I am not sure if it has one nut, I honestly watched him take it off but now don't remember. But the bushing is like a sleeve the fits around the shaft and then the key inserts.

I should of have done an engine survey but the owner was very transparent with all the work done and the receipts. i kind of let my guard down a little. I have ordered all new hoses, and was hoping to change most out myself but with work and the lack of experience I may have the yard do it.

Thanks for the replies, wish me luck.

Cheers, Kevin

Almost certainly the cooling hose will be a blocked cooler. My buddy had exactly this week and when he pulled the cooler he found this.
