First Blood on the deck

Post by catalina_mike »

Here is our first catch this season on our 28TE Dive Inn. We had some bait die and get beat up during our 80 mile trip. All and all a great first season trip. The sardines and green backs were not really circling correctly in the tank. My buddy, in the picture, Jeff said the tank looked a bit narrow in his opinion. Water flow is great in the tank because of the scoop I added for the thru hull. Any ideas on what others are doing?

Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Cracking fish! I don't seem to have an issue with my tank, what pump have you got as you may not have enough flow? I can normally keep launce and mackerel alive for half a day quite easily, although we do replenish the tank during the day with fresh bait.

Different baits will take differently to live wells with "square corners"... Some do well and some just don't ... Nice catch!

We have significantly more mortality of anchovies in our live bait tank on our 31 TE as compared to a round Kodiak tank on our old boat. They seem to get beat up on the corners more

Here at Hogans bait and tackle he suggested I might have too much water flow or it could be pushing the bait to the bottom because of the flow pattern not allowing them the circle.. Lot's to learn..

I have tested are re tested these transom tanks. They simply don't work. Kodiak fro flow 32 or 43 on the swim step. I ran this last week and the boat handles fine.
