Pulling fuel fill

Post by Jeremyvmd »

So I need to pull the fuel fill on the 28...I've done it before on other boats but they have allways had good access to the bottom so I was able to just push from below. However on the 28 that ain't happening. Anyone have a tips or tricks to get it to move? I couldn't get it to budge!

You mean the fill neck that's screwed to the gunwale? How are you getting to the hose and clamps if there's no access?

That's why I need to losen it so I can get to the clamps. I can't climb in that tight hole unfortunatly. And yes I mean the full neck...

Can you try reaching down the mouth of the fill pipe with a strong pick and pulling up while working a chisel tip under the lip?

I'm guessing that the fuel hose clamps will not fit through the hole that the fuel fill tail piece passes through and that the clamps will need to be removed from below. Removing the ABS plastic fishing rod holder insert will give you the needed access. If you have a toe rail that will need to be removed first.
