fuel
My Albin 28 has been on the hard for 2 years. this year I an replacing the engine and am wondering if I should empty out the old fuel and replace with new. It has a full tank with preservative but am concerned that the diesel fuel has been sitting there too long and may foul the new engine.
Any advice?

Re: fuel
^Agreed. Also, is it a Yanmar? They are somewhat cetane sensitive. A cetane booster additive could be considered.

Re: fuel
I'd personally dump the fuel and start fresh. You're just about to spend many thousands of dollars fitting s new engine only to scrimp on saving a few hundred dollars on a tank of fuel. It will give you a good opportunity to clean the tank and inspect the welds so when you do get the boat back in the water, you know everything will be in a near as perfect condition.

X2.....i'd use the old fuel in my home and treat my brand new engine to fresh fuel. and definitely check the tank while the engine is out.
not the place to scrimp while investing so much on a re-power.
