Rudder Bearing Squeaks

I noticed the rudder "squeaks" when the wheel is turned. This is when it is on the trailer. I haven't noticed it in the water. It got me thinking about what maintenance required on the rudder bearing. What should I be checking as part of my regular routine?

it'll be squeaking as it is a cut down cutlass bearing - once its wet and lubricated it'll be fine.

With regards to maintenance - just check that there is no lateral movement in the bottom of the shaft.
