Anyone make try to recreate the actual original folding seat from scratch? I'm now hunting for the dimensions of the factory seat bases and backs. I found the hardware.

Hi,

I'm a relatively new (Spring 2015) owner of a 27 Sport that we keep in Maine. Saw your post from a few weeks ago as I was searching for a folding seat to replace the removable one that attaches to the port side of the cabin. On our boat, this seat has only a bottom, and I'm looking to replace the seat itself with one with a folding back. Our frame is in fine shape. If you need photos of the assembly I'd be happy to take some and send them to you when we get to the boat.

Separately, our helm seat is a single seat, and I'd be interested to replace it with a double seat that could accommodate my wife as well.

If you have any info on where to source that seat type, would appreciate it.

Boating season is still a ways off for us, but time to be planning my projects.

Thanks,

Dick

Original Helm Bench for A 27 Sport

Post by obertra9 »

I have an original 2 person side support / leg mount seat for a A27Sport which is available for anyone who wants to pay the boxing and shipping. I replaced it with a movable helm seat as I did not like to remove it to get to the engine, also thought it not so sturdy. But if you are familiar with this seat and want it, its yours.

I've got the new Gaerlick Mounting brackets, hardware pack I ordered for both Port and Starboard seats. As far as I can tell these are the same ones Albin used to create their original A27 folding seats. I then bumped in to Ben who sold me his old (new) pedestals which I installed. Bracket and seat hardware is available if anyone is looking to rebuild original seats.

Rick, She looks good in the water! I plan on being down that way ASAP to get some parts from Dons Salvage and I'll bring my fuel polisher along. I'll give you a call when I can get a date for the trip. Ben
