28 TE Engine Panel

Post by catalina_mike »

Anyone have experience with this Seaward product? I'm in the process of laying out a complete 12 vdc electrical remake.. The current factory Yanmar panel has a silence switch and illumination switch also. I am looking at switches with breakers in lieu of the current automotive glass fuses and toggle switches. Thanks

A gentleman who use to work for Seward that kept doing the panels on a limited basis. I will be removing the gauges etc and installing them in a custom new panel for the dash. I had a few switches giving me issues so I decided to redo all the helm electrical..

Stay tuned..

Anyone see a need / comment to have the instrument lights separate from nav lights? Currently in my factory Yanmar panel there is a lumination switch for the instruments. So I'm designing a new panel and wonder if the gauge and switches need to be separate for some reason I'm not seeing currently. I only want to do this once if possible.

My Albins have had the instrument lights on the switch with the navigation lights and it has been no problem. The only advantage I can see for separate switches is if the instrument panel is up high enough to give glare at night and interfere with forward night vision. Sometimes I stand in the companionway while steering in the dark to get a better view.

Yes going to have all instrument and panel switch back lights on a dimmer for sure. It can take 20 mins to get your night vision back. Thanks for the input Russell. That's 1 for single switch...

Well after removing the peice of lunch from my trachea after reading the price I gave it some thought, as long as the switches/lights are included and its ready to go sans gauges that actually seems like a reasonable price. Good to know as I want to replace my switch panel soon

Yes I sprung for the led back-lighting along with the Albin logo back-light. Dimmer and all new with breakers in-lieu of glass fuses. At least that's how I sold myself the price...

Ok here is the pictures for the panel replacement. photo.pacificwestcontrols.com/~Mike Owens/photo/ Anyone need the old panel and wiper switches. Just pickup shipping. I might try and ebay the Yanmar panel to try and ease my pain! I also did BTI led's for spreader lights. They have two levels of illumination.

Are your wiper switches two or three position?
