26' cc bait well issues

Post by cdorage »

Can anyone tell me if there is some kind of flaw in the design of the bait well in the 26' cc? I just took delivery of a brand new 2006 model and it took on water, alot, on the first run across Tampa Bay.

I think you are first owner of a 26' CC, so I don't know if anyone here will actually know the answer. However, I'm pretty sure there are some avid fishermen here who would know the inner workings of a baitwell, so I wouldn't be surprised of you couldn't find an answer anyway.

Where did the water accumulate? In the baitwell or in the bilge? Is there a through-hull associated with the baitwell, and was the valve open while making run? Does it take on water while stationary? We need more details.

Celeste,
Where is the bait well on the 26? Is it one of those hatches behind the helm? Where you in rough seas? If you feel it's taking on more water that it should a call to your dealer may help.
