Marine Cornucopia in MD

Post by DCatSea »

For those who enjoy yard sales or salvage yards:

I have just discovered Bacon Sails and Marine Supplies in Annapolis MD (http://www.baconsails.com), which has an astonishing collection of "stuff" for those of us who like to recycle things like swim platforms, fenders, anything in teak, and engine room, electrical and deck hardware. Lots of boat-bling there as well, and all at consignment prices (they are apparently open to haggling as well.)
I went there looking for a full-size swim platform, and found exactly what I needed at a my-size price.

Staff were knowledgeable (as you might expect in Annapolis) and helpful. I would recommend gloves and at least a free hour, to root around the warehouse-style shelves.

Very cool. As an ex-sailboater I'd heard of them before as a sources for used sails. Which by the way if you know of anyone looking for a set of used Catalina 25 sails at bargain price, let me know. When we sold our Catalina we kept an extra set of sails that had come with the boat thinking we could sell them on the side, but no luck so far. Bit of a drive for me to get from here to Annapolis though, 4,800 mile round trip. :D
