I'm not sure what engine the 4D61 is based on biti seem to recall the 6 cylinder engine fitted inthe Albin trawlers was based on the Ford 2704 engine.

You may find that to get a rebuild manual assuming a marine manual isn't available then look for it in its industrial guise. My guess is it's a 2724(e) or one of the engines from that range of 2700 engines.

The manuals generally give you a break down of how the engines are built for whatever application, be it marine, industrial or agricultural.

We had the 150bhp turbo charged 2704ET in one of our boats a while back and here in the UK those engines came as 150,180,212,300 and 350bhp variants. They were listed in the marine application as Dorset, Dover, magnum and other names I can't remember.

The only manuals for them from a rebuild point of view was in the 2700 series guise.

Of course, I may be barking up the wrong tree with regards to your engine but it may be worth a shot.

Oh and if I recall, they were designed initially for New Holland combine harvesters.

I'd say that was a good guess!

Annoying really because I had the workshop manuals when we had that boat!

Looks like closest one is 2711E. Guess someone figured out how to get 20 more HP out of the little D61.... Comforting to know that these folks are out there. I was beginning to feel like I had a model T engine in a NAPA auto parts world.

There is also a company over here in the UK called Lancing Marine who still manufacture parts for them.

I was under the impression that engine was a marinized Peugot car engine. No?

if it is this engine - might be work looking for a workshop manual for the Peugeot 404?

Was it definitely made by Peugeot or was it made for Ford by Peugeot - like they do today.

it does start to become a bit confusing as here they are under the Sabre banner whereas in the States they will be under the Lehman banner.

The Peugeot engine marinized by Lehman is a XDP 90 engine used in 504 and 505 cars and trucks, it is 2112cc's. Try to find the rebuild manual for the 504 automobile. The engine was made in France and they are all over the world. Ford and jeep used this engine in their overseas vehicles in Europe, India and all over Asia. The engine was made by a different company like jedpah or something so if you find the manufacturer you can also find the manual. These engines are still in use in England and France.

Yep, I've got all the Peugeot automotive shop manuals. I just saw the Lehman Part Number 4C84 for the Lehman 4D61 Engine Rebuild Shop Manual Ahh you may say "I've got that". What you have is the user manual, Part Number 4C80. The Rebuild Shop Manual wouldn't have been given to the end user. It would have been distributed to the commercial marine engine repair shops. Like I said "The holy grail" of Albin Manuals. It's out there somewhere.
