inflated fuel/ gph figures
inflated fuel/ gph figures
from a boats.com ad for a 99 28 te with a 300 hp yanmar.
seems a bit optomistic to me, anyway. (17 kts @ 5 gph?)
"Description
This is traditional, all-weather "Downeast" design at its best. With wide side decks, and a large cockpit, Albin's 28TE is a rock-solid performer, and attractive to boot. Her fuel-efficient 300HP Yanmar, hitting 17 knots at 3,200 RPM, uses just five gallons per hour, and gives her a 300-mile range on two-thirds of a tank. Fish from her (she has rod holders and tackle drawers) or just cruise in comfort (she has reverse cycle air conditioning, an enclosed head/shower compartment, refrigeration and a microwave). Either way, you won't be disappointed."

i put about 100 hrs on my...
new engine (310 peninsular) last year and consumed a little over 400 gal.(about $1300.00).
flow scan indicates about 16 kts at just under 10 gph, on average or maybe 1.5 to 1.6 nmi/gal at cruise (2900 rpm). it looks like the yanmars get about 2.0 nmi/gal. not sure what best cruise rmp is for them. i'm guessing 3200.
thanks for the numbers, chiefrcd.

Interesting. I filled up this morning. Just under 2900 RPM for 20 knots. 3000 gave me 22 knots. I have a Nibral 18x18. Forgot the transmission. Same as Denis' Red Stripe.muscrat wrote:John
2400 RPM- michigan DQX 18X19 prop, Hurth hsw 800 1.4-1 transmission in it.
20 knots is full fuel, and way too much stuff.. I also go by EGT guage as much as RPM.. 2400 is the sweet spot for mileage/speed.

Re: inflated fuel/ gph figures
Ressurecting an old thread here, but does anyone know how the lower HP Cummins do for fuel economy at hull speeds (around 7kts I'd assume)?

Sorry. Can't help with that. Try using the search function. Might be something out there.

Re: inflated fuel/ gph figures
Yeah I was looking around but could not find anything really on the low speed Cummins numbers. Since they are a much different motor not sure if they have a big difference on low RPM consumption.
