Upgraded vetus 50 prop
So my parents came down to help with the last of the electronics instal and surprised me with an early xmas present as I'll likely still be in the hospital at that point:/. They got me a vetus six blade prop. Anyone have any experience with that prop? Does it work better than the factory 3blade? Is it any quieter? Any info is appreciated!

Re: Upgraded vetus 50 prop
Jeremyvmd: Did you find information that the Vetus 6 blade prop. is the right way to go? Seems like a big change for the factory 3 blade.

Re: Upgraded vetus 50 prop
I actually know nothing about it...I was complaining to my dad about the condition of my current prop - the blades are dinged and chipped up and they got it for me unexpectedly. I was hoping someone had info on if it's trully a better prop...he said he did research and its quieter and more efficient but I can't find any solid info

Jeremyvmd: I have the 6 blade on mine and there is a big difference in performance and it is definitely a lot quieter.

Which how thruster you have? Does it seem to provide more thrust?

Re: Upgraded vetus 50 prop
I noticed an improvement in noise and power....not huge, but it was there. As a side benefit, I was having a problem with blue claws taking up residence in the tunnel while docked....making an awful noise when blending them. The 6 blade left no room for them to pass through, and that problem seems to have gone away. That was a fun noise to troubleshoot....

Re: Upgraded vetus 50 prop
I recently installed the 6 blade prop on my 55kgf and after using it a few times the tailpiece gears appear to be stripped. After looking for a shear pin to no avail I hauled out because I thought the prop had come off or was damaged but it was still intact. It makes a terrible grinding noise when engaged. I don't know if something was sucked in or if the tailpiece was ready to go out. I also don't know what replaces the shear pin.
