Bilge sea cock
I own a '77 Albin 25 Deluxe and I would like to reinstall a sea cock for the bilge. The previous owner removed and glassed over the area where the sea cock was imbedded. I need a measurement from the rear and from the bottom to determine the drilling spot for the new sea cock. Can anyone help?

Re: Bilge sea cock
When you say bilge sea cock, do you want the hole through the hull for the bilge pump outlet.

I mean the drain plug that has to be manually unscrewed when the boat is in dry dock.

Re: Bilge sea cock
Here's what I have. I just measured
21.5" forward from the aft edge of the keel
2.25" from the bottom of the keel
The fitting is 2.75" diameter
The plug is 1.25" in diameter

But . . . . you asked for dimensions for an A25 Deluxe - Joe just gave you dimensions for his A27FC. Not sure what will happen if you cut a hole in your boat based on those dimensionszonk84 wrote:That's exactly what I need. Thanks a lot.

Thank You Don. I'm glad you caught that 'cause I sure didn't. I didn't really understand the angle of the photos that were provided. I'll just be patient and wait for the right dimentions.

OK so maybe Im a bit old fashion, but I do`nt believe in drilling more holes in a hull than is necessary. The less to go wrong. How much water will be drained out over an extra hole to me is a no brainer.

Re: Bilge sea cock
I've seen quite a few boats over the years on the hard with a lot of water in them. If they had had a bilge drain hole and the plug had been removed when they were on the hard much serious damage would have been avoided.

I tend to agree. And with products such as "5200" to waterproof the hole I am not worried about punching a small hole.

Re: Bilge sea cock
I just looked at mine (1975 A25 Deluxe) while it wa sout of the water but I didn't get any pictures. Mine was about a 3/4" fitting in the deeper part of the keel. it was on the port side about 2/3rds of the way back the keel. I think it would be tough to get at it to replace it.

Re: Bilge sea cock
Thanks for looking and responding. I have a new sea cock, for a couple of years now, threads and all, ready to install. I am aware that it is on the port side and am awaiting exact measurements: vertically from the bottom of the keel to the sea cock and horizontally from the aft of the keel to the sea cock. In that cross-hair I will drill the appropriate hole and install my sea cock. Will patiently wait for for these numbers, otherwise no drilling.

Re: Bilge sea cock
Does anyone know where I can get a spare bilge plug like the one pictured in the post by JT48348 below?
I have the original on my A27...but I would love to have a spare.
