Just curious....
As a fairly new member of this board I am a little curious....are there many (any?) gals aboard who write on this board?

There's a lot of Albin enthusiasts on this board.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick - Jean has just bought an Albin and was wondering if there were any other women owners out there.

Re: Just curious....
It's really not relevant. Perhaps in general discussion thread but not A25/A27 True Classics.
And the post wasn't "Hey I'd like to share ideas with other women owners of the A 27 or whatever. " or "please pm me if your a women owner..." BTW We don't know if Jean's a woman. Maybe it's some creepy guy looking for hot Albin owners to creep on. Don't be creeping on me.
May be not intentional. But its a trolling question. Worded in a trolling way. Not every question you might have needs to be posted in the True Classics forum.
Imagine any number of variations and ask yourself how appropriate they would be. "Just curious....any [insert ethnic, political sexual preference, gender, religious type] --many if any---here?"
Please send us pictures of your boat Jean, tell us about your projects, discuss nautical nuance relative to Albins.

Re: Just curious....
I think if I was a woman newly posting to a 95% male oriented audience (and like it or not, that's pretty much what we are) for the first time, my initial post might be very similar to hers - "Are there any other gals here??"

Re: Just curious....
One of the most "famous" female Albin 25 owners, who by the way as far as I know was never involved with this site, was Ms. Hira Barbara Reid, a retired Army Lt Colonel. She kept a blog about her adventures with her Albin 25 "Shatoosh" and her 9 ft Porta Bote dinghy "Pashmina". She sold the boats this past June, but her blog is still up here
http://shatooshandpashmina.blogspot.com/
My cruising adventures and indeed most others pale compared to what she's done.
From her blog page:

From her blog page:
Shatoosh, an Albin 25 HN 1124, and Pashmina, a 9 foot Porta Bote have cruised over 8,500nm on 70 navigable waterways in the California Delta, the Columbia, Snake, Willamette Rivers and the Salish Sea of Washington and British Columbia. In 2011 they crossed the Columbia River bar to cruise the Washington coast and in 2012 they replicated Peter Puget's 1792 exploration of the southern waters of Puget Sound. In June 2015 the boats were sold and are now on the Hood Canal.

Wow jt im sorry but your being a bit chauvinist right now. Makes me a little embarresed to be in your gender....
To the op yes there are other women here, my wife posts and lurks often under my name. Please ignore the one member you seem to have insulted. My wife is my right hand (and often im her right hand) on the boat. There's not a nut screw bolt or bauble that gets fixed or replaced without her right there...she does hate wiring tho...lol

Re: Just curious....
Good morning all,
We are all gentlemen and ladies here. I will admit I did smile reading about trolls and Shantoosh. I am also very much an admirer of the female form. But, I'm afraid this discussion is very much off-topic for the A25/A27 forum. So, let's bring this to a close and get back to the discussion of boating.
You can rest assured that the moderators will take care of trolls, spammers, and hackers.
Thanks!

Chauvanist:
"showing or relating to excessive or prejudiced loyalty or support for a particular group or cause."
Thanks for making my point. We're all Albin Owners here. No one discriminates against anyone. Albin 25/27 True Classics has never been about who's here or not here, in what quantities, or anything like that . It shouldn't turn into that, as it destracts from the great body of information and sharing we have.
Perhaps this is a topic for General Discussion, or New Members, or Facebook, or Twitter. There are many ways to connect with Albin Owners, I just don't think this type of thread (worded as it was originally presented) is the type of thing that belongs here. It seems harmless and silly. And today we just give our pleasantries and reassurances to Jean that "Yes there are many women Albiners here" (duh)--but tomorrow its someone elses inappropriate, off topic, trolling sort of posting. (There's lots of marine/nautical boards like that. This shouldn't be one of them.)
Meanwhile you're trying to pull your prop shaft, and someone else is trying to rebuild their 30 year old engine, while some crazy guy in the corner is installing a hot tub in the aft cabin of his Albin 27 (imagine that!).
We're very glad you're here Jean. There's lots of women in and around Albins, some posting some not. Some are former men turned women. Some are just manly men. We really don't care. Got a great picture of your Albin? Some wacky project or technical brain buster? Maybe you just want to marvel at how good an A27 looks in a photo turned into a painting or pick a new color for your boat hull. Bring it! We love it! This is a great place to share your Albin experience, trade technical knowledge, and really connect with other Albins Owners. Pointing out who's here or not here, or the further implications that they should or shouldn't be here is not what this forum is about. Its not about the forced validation that there are people of all walks of life who love and are interested in the Abin. We all know this. There's several forums built into the board, and they each have their topics and flavors. There's also private messaging, and off line communication which many of us use.
Welcome aboard!
