holding tank gauge

Post by stevieb »

I am considering adding an external monitor gauge to my new holding tank. Has anyone used one on with success or otherwise?

I installed a Snake River system in mine. Fiberglass tank. Works fine.
I do not believe they are in business any longer as the same company. You'll have to do a search.

Profile Tank Monitor. Worked so well on my holding tank that I installed one on my fresh water tank. Check out http://www.ferriellosales.com/Monitoring_Systems.html

Are you using an outside or inside of tank sensor device?

The sensors are foils that adhere to the outside of the tank. No worries about fouling of sensor rods.

I had installed the plastic rod type from Fireboy in my 28 holding and water tank. Worked great for the water tank, but total junk in the holding tank as it would foul and not read accurately. Sealand / VacuFlsh use a series of multiple floats and these work very well, but if I were starting from scratch on the holding tank I'd go with the exterior foil type by Scad or others.

I'm considering a "Scad Solo Tank Monitor". It uses external sensors and was recommended by "Practical Sailor", a reference that has proved quite accurate over the years.
