Prop singing

Post by gspier »

I have a NSC 40 with 27" props and at low RPM 800-1200, seem to have a harmonic wine from both engines, "prop singing". At 1300 RPM´s the sound goes away. I have heard that having the props tuned, specific to eliminate "singing" should eliminate the sound?? I have had the boat 4 years not an issue for me, prospective buyer has issue. Had a ZF dealer sea trial and found no issues with the transmissions. Help!!!

Had the same issue on my 28. Pulled the prop and had it re-conditioned, including putting a anti-singing edge on the blades. No more singing.
