Registering Albin 28TE to my LLC..?

Post by Norseman »

Still shopping for a 28 after 2 surveys with mixed results.
(Kind of negotiating now on the last one)
Got 2 LLCs after I bought and sold real estate during the last 7 years of bust and boom in Fort Lauderdale.
Always had boats in my name in the past, but now thinking about using one of the LLCs, maybe for tax reasons and for liability reasons. (Got a USCG ticket, could do charters in the future if I add commercial insurance on the boat.)
So, I seem to recall that a boat, house or a car owned by an LLC would not be covered by my Umbrealla Insurance?
Kind of defeats the purpose.
Anybody else with boats owned by LLCs..? :?:

A yacht policy can be written in the name of an LLC. Then you would need a commercial umbrella for the excess coverage.
