Has anyone replaced the wiper motors - entire assembly actually on their pilothouse windows? Any suggestions? The originals were no longer with my A27 when I acquired it and more than once I've wished I had them.

Re: wiper motor assembly
Skip: I recently pulled mine off when I redid the pilot house windows. Mine look just like the one here, except they are older and black in color. I plan to bench test mine and replace the blades. Failing that I'd choose something like this:

Re: wiper motor assembly
Same story here. When I bought the boat, the previous owner had removed the wiper motors and reupholstered over the holes. I knew I'd need them, so I went searching for the best unit for the least $$$SkipRocks wrote:Has anyone replaced the wiper motors - entire assembly actually on their pilothouse windows? I bought these on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wiper-Motor-12V ... Qw&vxp=mtr
The seller (TMC Technology Corp) of these is the US importer and very knowledgeable - They are made in Taiwan. The units come with either a long shank (2") or a shorter one. I needed the longer one. The sweep angle on these can be adjusted. I'm using the parallelogram double arm set-up which keeps the wiper blade vertical as it sweeps so it goes from very close to one edge of the window frame to very close to the other, parallel with the frames on both sides. The smallest sweep angle of the unit listed on eBay (83 degrees) was perfect for me, but if you use the standard single arm I think you'd need an even narrower sweep angle or the lower corner of your wiper blade would hit the teak window frame on both sides . . . . I would guess 70 degrees would *probably* work (I'm about 90% confident in that) and in that case, you'd need to order a different part number. You'd have to contact the seller because all he lists on eBay is the 'standard' unit, but he has them all available
This seller is *great* to work with. After I had bought a pair of these and went to install them, I decided that I'd like one unit which parked to the right and one which parked to the left and the seller allowed me to return one unit and exchange it, no charge. He sent me what I needed . . . . and he wouldn't take a penny for the extra shipping charge
These are very heavy duty, adjustable, two speed and with a separate park wire so they stop in exactly the same place (very close to the window frame) every time. I'm VERY happy with them and the seller too!

I'll bet Tim and I exchanged a dozen e-mails before I got everything just right on my installation and he was always eager to help. You can tell him I gave you his e-mail if you like
