Re: power inverter
Instead of going from fuel - generator - inverter - space heater, why not go fuel - space heater

Re: power inverter
Genral rule of thumb for sizing battery banks (according to Nigle Calder) would be 400 amp hour deep cycle battery bank for a 2000 watt inverter, that is equal to 4 group 31 batterys or 2 4D. The average space heater is about 1500 watts, that equals a 130 to 150 amp draw on the house bank when it is running. one should not deplete the batterys more than about 50%. At that point the voltage will drop below the usable range anyway. That ends up giving about a hour or two at the most that a space heater can run off a 2000 watt Invertor.

Re: power inverter
Electric heat is the worst.. 1KW in less than 1kw out. Gas or heat-pump is better IMHO.

Re: power inverter
Unless you're at one of those transient marinas that charge $25 flat rate for the electric per night, then it's time to break out the electric heater and fire up the A/C !catalina_mike wrote:Electric heat is the worst..
