Covering 28te with a tarp

After paying for shrinkwrap last year,, I'm wondering if a tarp can be successfully used to keep her safe.I have not had much Luck in the past with tarps,,,sagging, ice ponding etc,

I had a reusable tarp and frame made by http://gencomarine.com/winter-covers/. Users report 12 to 15 years of use. They are also repairable. Cost was $3,000 cdn but if you amortize it over 15 years it looks more attractive. Should be a supplier in your area of a similar product.

A couple of more ideas:

Kover Klamps - A couple of guys in my marina use their frame and tarp system and it seems to work very well. One of the boats is an Albin 28TE

Another is Fisher Canvas Products out of NJ. I do know that they have made plenty of covers for 28 TE's and have the pattern. A bit pricey, but one and done.

I shrink my own boat. The 28 use to cost me about $120 per year. I'm currently just doing the cockpit of the the 31TE down to the rub rail at about $50 with the leftover material that I had from the 28. This will be year three and then the material will be gone. I'll need to resupply next year and will probably get the material to cover the 31 completely. By doing it myself it's cheap enough. Vents are reusable and I can get about 4 years out of the access door.

We do our 31 somewhat the same as Jetter. By keeping a steep pitch on the framework we do not have any problem with snow load. Last year we had an access door installed at the transom door. Very convenient. With the little heater in the cabin it is very comfortable and out of the wind in those cooler months.We figure we will get 10 to 15 years from the cover if maintained properly
