Hi all,
I just joined the group here. I have been an admirer of all Albin boats for many years. I have mostly been a sailor, and for many years have kept a boat out on eastern Long Island (NY). My kids and grand kids have all relocated to Upstate NY, and I thought I'd look around for a boat appropriate for the canals and lakes. I thought I'd reacquaint myself with Albins, so here I am.

Welcome aboard Rob!
You've come to the right place for all things Albin! Like you, I've mostly been a sailor, in my case trailer sailers 25 feet and under since 1998. In 2014 I went "over to the Dark Side" and sold our Catalina 25 and purchased an Albin 25. Speaking of lakes and canals, our home base is in Peoria, AZ near Phoenix, and we do most of our boating on Lake Pleasant a few miles Northwest of town during cooler weather, and go on the road during summer, taking our boat to cooler climes.
This summer we trailered our all the way across the country to Rhode Island, among other destinations, and did some cruising on Block Island Sound, Thames River, and Pawcatuck River on the mainland side while staying at a friend's beach house in Weekapaug, RI.
On the way we cruised a portion of the Erie Canal in Western NY from Seneca Lake to Fairport and back. An Albin 25 is a boat you can do all that with and more. Now if you were to take a ride to Plainville, CT, a small town to the Southwest of Hartford and visit the shop of Sound Marine Diesel, you would find two Albin 25's up on blocks.
Obviously it's a long way around from East Hampton to Plainville unless you take the Cross Sound Ferry from Orient Point. But it might be of interest to call Joe DeMers, the proprietor of Sound Marine Diesel who could fill you in about Albin 25's.

Yeah, I saw your posts about that trip. I am truly impressed! And yes, an Albin 25 is what I'm looking for. I'll check out those boats in Plainville.

Welcome Rob, many of us have come from a sailing past, the Albins just seem to be the logical progression. We have the 27 FC, our small boats are hard to beat, always seem to draw positive comments. Hope you find your boat. Thanks, Mark.
