Diagram and Information of Water Tank Sending Unit and Gauge

Post by addon323 »

Unfortunately my Albin did not come with a water tank sending unit and gauge. Very frustrating especially while taking a shower and running out of fresh water :x

I contacted Luther, the manufacturer of the water tank and they provided me with this drawing. It shows where the sending unit should be installed for those who would like to add one. I am planning on installing the sending unit and the gauge this winter.

Luther stated the following, "This is where Albin put the water sending unit. The dotted line indicates a baffle at 24". I would recommend moving the sending unit slightly to the left or the right of the centerline baffle to avoid hitting it."

The company that provides the sending unit and gauge is Wema. http://www.wemausa.com/.

Here is the link for the sending unit.

Luther states, "that in 2003 Albin started using the Wema sending units for these tanks. The tank is 17.5" deep. The sending unit is 16" long. The part number from Wema for this unit is #SSL-16 (flange mount -16" deep)"

Here is a link to the gauges to choose from.

I was planning on wiring it to the fresh water pump switch (Thanks to Kevin for the idea) so every time I turn the fresh water on the water gauge will work.

Hope this helps.

31TE Diagram & Information of Water Tank Sending Unit & Gaug

Post by Pitou »

Rich - Thanks for getting and sharing that PDf with everyone. Without getting out the measuring tape and checking, the drawing looks accurate. So that you don't hit that baffle, I'll double check the exact sender location for you once I've hauled and the berth is stripped and the cushions are off.

I had to replace my WEMA sender this past summer. Being without was a constant guessing game. On my 31 it was a standard item. On my 28 it was not and as you are planning, I also added a sender and gauge to the 28. Having it is a nice creature comfort that I believe is mandatory!
