Dito: spray your lines. My previous boat was just newly docked at my first NC marina and it didn't take long and ants showed up in the open cockpit headed all over, but...there was no food on board. Thought at first it was a marina hazing, but not. They were crossing the lines and going for the dead bugs that got trapped inside the enclosure. How they could tell is beyond me. Sourced their location to a dock box, baited it and sprayed the lines. Ants no more. Home Defense is excellent too.

Home defense works at my dirt home for spiders.
In salt water we very rarely get spiders.
When we cruised summers in fresh water one of those battery powered tennis racket looking bug zappers worked wonders. Go hunting just as dusk starts and you'll kill scores in a few minutes.
My personal record was 65 in one evening.
The next night I got 38.
Then it was single digits after that.

In my case, and the Commodore's, its a case of abandon ship and call the Orkin Man. I would guess that a good cat would solve our problem. TG for salt water.
