Hello

Post by StockHR »

Hello to all!
What a great site. Glad I came across it. My wife and I keep our Albin 34 in Rock Hall, Maryland. We reciently moved here from NJ and we are really enjoying the "Land of Pleasant Living." I hope we can come across the other members of this group as we cruise the Chesapeake.

Welcome to the board Mike! And, welcome to Maryland.
Keep an eye on the Rendezvous thread. Kent is just down the bay from you.

I would suggest signing up for a free account at www.photobucket.com I haven't had any problems with spam or pop-ups from them, and the storage is either unlimited or totally sufficient. I literally have hundreds of images uploaded.

Be sure to resize them so they don't mess up the page's format. I believe you can do that with photobucket, but Microsoft offers a useful tool called "Image Resizer" for free on their website. Just go to www.microsoft.com and to a search for "Image Resizer" and it will list the Power Toys page where you can download it, along with a whole bunch of other free tools they offer.

I still don't understand how I can get a picture to appear in a post.

Thanks, Mike

I assume that you have setup a Photobucket account to put pics in.

Before you copy anything there get the pics down to a reasonable size. Any one of a number of programs work. I have Photoshop but the camera's software has a resizing tool too.

Get the pic down to a 640X480 pixel size & resolution down to where the file size will be less than 100k then copy to Photobucket.

Once in photobucket it is a simple matter to left click on the third bar of jibberish, right click on 'copy', go to where you want the pic here & click 'paste'

Bingo

The only hassel is having to start a separate browser to get to Photobucket to copy the pic but maybe I am missing an easier way for that.

You can't past a link to a picture on your own computer. You need to first upload it to a photo hosting website like www.photobucket.com. Then you can copy and paste link into the message window. If you bracket the link with , it will put the picture directly into the page.
