Day one of the cruise to points North. Blue Moon getting underway. 3 hours later passing under the Deception Pass bridge at slack water. Current runs up to 10 knots through there

Nice pictures, at the wrong time of day my 27 would be going backwards. Boat looks great, Thanks, Mark.

Wow, absolutely beautiful shot of the passage with the bridge. Thanks for the new desktop background - and the double monitors give it a different look! Safe travels, enjoy.

Wait a minute! You still have the lower enclosure up! It looks cold! That would be nice as its near 100 here, feels like...well...So, are these pics recent? Nice boat.

We are now in Pender Harbor. 207 miles north of Seattle in a straight line. Probably more than 250 cruising. We are taking a layover with stormy weather. Tomorrow we continue north.
We crossed the Strait of Georgia about 24 miles. It can get really rough, but we had a nice crossing.

Picture of a huge cargo barge heading to Alaska out in the middle of the Strait.

Also a picture of Welcome Passage where you get out of the Strait.
Weather should improve tomorrow.

Can't post photos because bandwidth is in short supply. We are in the Broughtons now. From Pender, we went to Refuge Cove, then through the rapids to Blind Channel Resort. The next day we went via Johnstone Strait to Lagoon Cove, the home of the famous potluck with just caught prawns provided. Then yesterday we went to Nimmo Bay Wilderness Lodge which is amazing, having hosted presidents, princes and prime ministers. The last 10 miles was so beautiful. Can't wait to post those photos. Now we are in Sullivan Bay. Google these locations. It is just amazing up here. There is a funny road sign here. It says Seattle is 309 miles thataway. That would be as the crow flies. I'm sure we've logged closer to 400.

I think I will have to wait until we get home to post photos. We are on our way back now. In beautiful Pender Harbor. Night before we anchored in Squirrel Cove, where I managed to lay the chain over a rock ledge. Once the tide went out, the chain rubbed back and forth all night long. Groan.

One of the most exciting things this time up North has been the wildlife. We saw two bears swimming right in front of the boat. We saw three humpback whales, including two putting on an incredible show of tail slapping. Carol got a couple of great shots of that. One should be a poster. So dramatic.

We also saw what I believe were a pod of false killer whales. They look like small Orcas, but without any white markings. Carol got video of them.

And then, the Pacific White Sided Dolphins, including one school of 3 to 4 hundred.

We should be home around the 19th, having been underway for 30 days by then. I'll start posting photos shortly after that.

OK. I'm ready to post photos.

First, the two bears we saw. The first is a Black Bear swimming froim one island to another. The second is very likely a juvenile grizzly, with the characteristic shoulder hump and "grizzled" fur.

Next, we saw hundreds of Pacific Whate Sided Dolphins. They are so much fun. Or is that phun? They loved playing in our bow wave.
