What a beauty. It is hard to believe that a boat can be maintained that well after 40 years. It looks better than new. Congratulations. :D

Spent a couple days on the hook in Sag Harbor with the most hospitable Jay & Deb on AA. Thanks for the evening cocktails on the bridge and the swim-up bar the next day

I had a room with quite a perfect view

It was our pleasure Rob. I don't know about it being a perfect view but it's a cool picture. Thanks!
Maybe John will put it in the calendar.

Rob and Erica congratulations, Monte Cristo is a real beauty! From the pictures I see the girls and the guard dog approve.
It looks and sounds mechanically and cosmetically perfect. I was a little nervous about the flybridge when we got the 40, now I would never have a boat without one!! Isn't it a great view and breeze up there?? It was great that you got to use it this year for part of the season, you looked out of place as a landlubber.

I hope to see it in person next season, Townsends was our first visit into that part of NY and we plan to come back, will be looking for advises on Coecels and Sag Harbor in particular.

Thanks Craig. Of course I am always glad to help with local knowledge but check out those areas on ActiveCaptain, it's quite accurate IMO.

You can see the anchorage in Sag was miserable this weekend

Yes, great view and great breeze for sure, and can be kept nice and warm when all zipped up with the full enclosure. Just love motoring in the shallows and through the shoaling with the vis from the bridge, no more staring at the chartplotter and hoping for the best. And it's quiet up there too. Like everything else, it does come with it's share of drawbacks but I am 100% in the swing of it now. Erika (and the girls) have stepped right up handling fenders and lines. Here we are locking through Shinnecock this weekend.

I am very fortunate that my home slip is is an easy one for single-handling so I can still go out for my solo runs.

There are 3 bridges that I need an opening for if I run east on the inside (Quogue Canal) if the ocean or inlets are kicked up or if we just feel like site seeing. One bridge was only 6" over the air draft of T-R at flood tide so that was always a bit unnerving. The operators have been great, 2 out of the 3 bridges on Monday I didn't even need to pull her out of gear, I could hear the whistles as I idle approached. The local etiquette is to not call them on the radio and it works.

What I really miss is my autopilot, that I will surely have in by splash 2015. And the transom door is missed big time. I will be discussing that with some fiberglass guys and getting opinions and pricing over time.

Of you want info on those harbors sende a pm sometime over the winter. I've been in both dozens of times. There are some incorrect assumptions in AC

Thanks will do, I met a guy in Block on a Mainship 34? Believe his name was Dave he said to say hello. Told him I "know" you on the internet. Cannot remember name of boat but said he had not communicated in a while. think boat was Instep or something close.

Done deal. Six weeks of designing (size, location, swing, etc) and four and a half months of construction. We originally anticipated being done by Memorial Day weekend but the harsh winter delayed us a bit. She finally splashed June 29th. We spent a 4-day holiday weekend on the hook in Sag Harbor and the door was well worth the delayed splash this season. Here's some pics. Very happy with the end result. We did the official de-naming and re-naming ceremonies as well. Hope to see some of my Albin friends on the water this season.

Rob,

Fantastic job on the transom door and teak - she looks like she was made that way!
Many of us splashed late this year - Hopefully we'll enjoy a prolonged boating season at the other end!

Beautiful job. I would never have the nerve to attempt that much modification but seeing how it turned out it was a great idea.
