A27-Sign Boards and Name Graphics

Post by JT48348 »

DIY name cheap boards and graphics.
Order exterior heavy grade vinyl from Amazon in your color.
Don't forget the double sided tape and 24" matte
Make your boards out of whatever wood available

Use a 1/4" rabitt bit to route the corners
Coat the would in epoxy, sand, recoat with paint or whatever
Use a Cricut machine to cut your letters
Add some details
Recoat with exterior polyurethane and mount

Note: The Cricut can do max 24" long and 12" high. When it comes time for the stern graphics I will cut one letter at a time and then assemble with the double sided tape for install.

Very nice!

Here's what I did with a router and gold paint on Mahogony, finished with varnish over West System epoxy. In this case I printed out the lettering in a simple font using MS Word, and used carbon paper to trace the letters on the wood, then carved with a router. This is the 2nd set of name boards. Last year I did a similar pair using white oak, which did not hold up well and warped from weathering. So this time I used 4/4 genuine mahogony. Those pipes on the side deck are mast and boom for my hard shell sailing dinghy.
