Albin 31TE Cruising Speed

Hello all,

I am looking to purchase an Albin 31TE. I see several power options. The one I am interested in has a 420hp Yanmar 6CX-ETE. It posts cruising speed of 16kts and top end of 19kts. Is this optimistic or realistic. What are typical speeds for the various power plants? I've seen power in the low 300hp up to 500hp. I have to assume these cruise at different speeds. Any info is much appreciated.

I have a 31TE with a 450 Cummins. The boat carries a lot of fishing and other gear e.g. weight and will cruise at 18kts (2100-2200rpm). Top end is 2600rpm and 21-22Knts.
However for fuel economy I normally run at 12knts (1200-1400rpm)

My 31TE with the same engine gets the exact same numbers as jointventure.

I know this is a tough questions but how much do you (collectively) think 30hp would impact performance? If not much, then 16-19kts sounds about right. Right?

I have a 2001 31te with 420 yanmar cruise 16 top end 19 would not go smaller then that i feel will be underpowered looked at buy one last year with a 300 hp Cummins too slow .had the boat year and a hlf with no yanmar engine problems
