Cockpit Storage Compartments
Loads of under cockpit storage in my Albin 27 but these boxes...especially the larger ones (port and starboard) will not stay dry. I have cleaned all the drain tubes and the water trapped in the moat (for lack of a better word) drains nicely...but after hosing the deck or a good rain, there is water on the floor of the compartments. Any suggestions? Has anyone added weather stripping to the high spots?

Re: Cockpit Storage Compartments
So I decided to try to weather strip the seal...using a compressible, self stick weather strip and it works like a charm. Chose a rubber foam product with good compressibility so that there would be no issue with the deck lid not closing to a flush state with the deck.
Next project...lighting.

Re: Cockpit Storage Compartments
Nick, I imagine that the reason you didn't receive much back in the way of feedback is that the storage you are referring to was added by a PO. There are no original hatches in the cockpit sole except the engine access hatches if you have a 27FC. I've been searching for the right size hatch to add to my boat. I want a flush or almost so, deck hatch that will allow access to an A/C unit I'll be putting in there. I've already switched all my lighting to LED, including my nav lites. Lots more light, lots less juice! Ben

Thanks, Tego. My boat is an express...not an FC...there are for hatches on the deck...one center (the exhaust routs through it) and access to the bilge. One each port and starboard (very large) and one at the transom to get to the steering gear. Bought this boat last November...we love it...my wife has taken a real interest in it.
