Bilge Pump

I have power coming to my main (aft) pump and my float is working but no water is being pumped from the bilge. What I found is that the sprockets are misaligned and the belt popped off. I can't figure out why the shaft extended and can't get it to align with the other. Any ideas? See the photos.
Thanks.

Looks like the drive sprocket has come loose and shifted away from the pump (not the shaft). You can see the set screw on the sprocket and the discoloration on the shaft where it used to sit. Loosen the set screw, move the sprocket back, and tighten well.

There is a grub screw on the smaller gear that needs to be undone and then realigned.

Ironically, I am throwing mine out!

!
Good thing, we would have had to look up "grub screw" to find out what it meant in English

Thanks for the rapid repy. I just have to figure out how to turn the screw. I tried pressing it in thinking it was spring activated. No luck.

It looks like it's a small hex head (allen key), which would make sense.

So you'd need one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/s/allen+wrench+set?NCNI-5

Thanks. I have a hex key set and the second smallest worked. Just fixed it in about 3 minutes. Knowledge can set you free. :)

Quick question for ya, My aft bilge is not woking after a very long winter. My question is where to start to look for the the problem. On my Bridge panel the lights work for each as does its function, wipers, blowers- toggle the switch light goes on and so does the blower etc. except the aft bilge , toggle the switch no light no bilge. thanks for any info you could offer

Is yours a 28 also? If so the aft bulge pump isn't the same as this one. It will be a pump with a separate float switch. Could be the pump has packed up?

Its a 31' and yes not the same, but wondering, if the light on the panel doesn't come on when you engage the pump, whether its getting power at all. The light on the bridge panel has me wondering. All the other lights come on like the blower etc. I hear the forward bilge run and light come on when toggled.

Sounds electrical rather than mechanical. If there is a fuse in the line, that would be the first thing to check. Could be an easy fix to replace the fuse. Maybe a short if the wiring cover is bare. Also, could be corrosion at one of the connections.
Good luck.
