2002 Albin 28TE hull construction

Post by SeaQuell »

Would anyone know if Albin was using vinylester resin in 2002 when building their hulls?

Thanks,

Your best bet for an answer is to call Ken Hilton at Standish Boat Yard in Tiverton, RI. If Ken doesn't know the answer off hand his head yard guy Ed will. Ed was the production manager for Albin for years and certainly during the period you are asking.

Fathoming a guess, I would say vinylester over epoxy just as a price point and cost savings, but I can't be sure. Most hulls are vinylester.

If you find the answer please report back on this thread as this would be good to know.

Albin advertising/Boat Test reports from that time indicate that they were
using Vinylester resin for the outer skin coat.
