Look what we found when the boat was hauled
Our 1996 Albin 28 Idle was hauled today for a new bottom job, and look what we found when she came out of the water. I wondered why she had lost about a knot and a half at cruising speed. This boat is tough! But I shudder to think what could have happened.

Re: Look what we found when the boat was hauled
Be sure to check your cutlass bearing, it is probably shot, melted. The cutlass needs water passing through it for cooling purposes. The front intake holes will not accept water flow inward if the back of the bearing is blocked with a rope tightly wrapped like that prohibiting the cooling water from passing through.

That was the first thing the yard checked, and. It seems the cutlass bearing suffered no damage. Now they are checking the stuffing box too.
