Chart card

Post by Panhdjoe »

Hello all, I am in need of a chart card that covers the South East for my Raymarine C120. It uses the CF format card that is still availble from Navonics. The Navonics Platinum Souhteast covers what I really need or for the same price I can get Navonics Gold that covers the Entire US coast. Question, Is any one familer with what advantages Platinum would have for just genral costal crusing, such as more or better countours and depths? or does anyone have preferences for any other companies chart cards?... Are you using the C120 or C120W?

The platinum edition doesn't hold a great advantage over the gold, certainly here it doesn't but it does give you underwater 3D structure features.

From a conversation I had with Raymarine the platinum is also quite slow to update, even on the C wide screen series.

If you don't have the widescreen series then the platinum card will give you no gain whatsoever.

The Gold version is just fine. Platinum Plus includes a lot of photos, including aerial shots, a 3-D rendition of the bottom, and quite a bit of information about local attractions. I find it useful, especially while out in the islands of the Pacific Northwest. Helps me recognize the entrance to harbors, or find a hardware store or restaurant. And since the cards distributed since 2011 are fully updatable, I should not need to buy a new one for a long time. Updates are free with the Platinum Plus. Not sure about Gold.
