Hello:
I plan on replacing the port/starboard running lights on my Albin 2001 28' TE over the winter. Where can I find replacements?
Please advise.
Mike

Hi Mike, and welcome aboard.
Are you interested in replacing just the bulbs or the entire fixture? Here's a thread you can start with.

Re: Replacement port/starboard running lights
Original port and starboard lights on the 28 were most likely Aqua Signal Series 41 lights with the large festoon bulbs. You can certainly switch things up to LED lighting or stick with what you have. Not much amperage savings if any switching to LED for this application as they are only on when the boat is underway and the alternator is running replacing any battery discharge as soon as it's used. If you want to make the battery banks as efficient as possible .. then maybe make the switch.

Re: Replacement port/starboard running lights
I changed over to LED last week after reading the threads on here. For me it wasn't about saving power but more for the brightness of them. I'd noticed a couple of boats the past few weeks while we were out fishing that had LED lights on them and the intensity of the light was what impressed me the most.

MarineBeam.com is a good resources for replacement LEDs. If you use a green and red LED, they will definitely be a lot brighter because close to 100% of the light will pass through the lense, whereas with a white LED, any portion of the spectrum other than green or red is filtered. MarineBeam has a good website for choosing the right light.

Do you switch over to a clear lens or keep the red/green ones? Looking to replace the lights on my 27FC and hadn't thought about LEDs

Jay, keep the red and green lenses but be sure you get red and green bulbs as said above, white bulbs will show as white behind a green lens.

I agree with Tree. I think the Coasties won't be happy with clear lenses.
