New 1995 Albin 28 Tournament Express owner

Post by robertwcass »

Hello All,

Just bought a used 1995 Albin 28 TE up in San Rafael and will be taking her to San Diego next month. We are having a Cumins 220 installed now.

I need to put in an auto pilot and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

The boat is named "Bridget Antonia" which is my 12yo daughter's name. I bought the boat on her birthday, Oct 24th.

Looking forward to being one of the few SoCal Albin owners.

Sounds great. There is a wealth of information here, you just need to use the Search function to find it all.

Here's a start on the autopilot: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2739&hilit=autopilot

Welcome Aboard" Congratulations' on the find and purchase. Moving to a great power plant as well. I am currently between boats but had the Raymarine on my last Albin and same on my Trinidad Raymarine fishing boat a 24 Osprey. Accurate and easy to handle.

I installed a Raymarine autopilot in a 28TE last year.
I located the ACU-200 in the locker beneath the sink and the sensor nearby but aft in the same locker, close to the toilet. Type 1 pump, and included the rudder reference for best control and to display rudder angle on the P70R control head.
Works great and was as simple to set up as Raymarine claims.

Thanks all. Just had the new engine dropped in today. Very tight fit but it is going to work. I'll probably go with the Garmin Autopilot as the boat already has the Garmin MFD.

Looking forward to being part of the group.

I too fitted an older Raymarine unit last year from scratch.

One thing worth knowing is i bought the pump direct from the manufacture, not raymarine and paid £180 when the Raymarine list price was just a tad over £400
