If you were purchasing a vessel that lived most of its life in salt water, and you were going to take her to fresh water; What would
you look hard and long at, as potential problem areas? Mechanical, electrical and structural etc.

Re: Salt Water to Fresh Water
for sure you should change your anodes. If it is going to be in Fresh water always, use magnesium. If it will be back and forth, use aluminum.

Re: Salt Water to Fresh Water
In addition to the anodes, you would also need to consider bottom paint. In general, I believe things would only improve in the fresh water environment. No (additional) detrimental impacts come to mind - and I've been a "fresh water" boater for 20 years or so. So if you identify all the negatives of the salt water environment and are OK with them before you buy, I believe things will only improve when switching to fresh water.

Aside from changing the anodes, there is nothing you need to do.

Re: Salt Water to Fresh Water
the above...and give it a good washdown to get all the salt off (don't forget the anodes in FWC system) and if you get a trailer in the deal do the bearings sooner than later.
