Albin 25 Max POB? Max weight?
Hi all I´m a new owner of a Albin 25 1973 from Denmark Copenhagen.
Very glad to be on board this forum.
I have been seeking information on weight limits or max persons on board in the handbook, here and google in vain.
I´m soon going fishing with some friends, and I would very much like to know how many I can bring on board without compromising safety.
Thanks
Dan

Years ago I was in the British Royal Navy, and we worked on a maximum of `one man per foot` length of boat. Saying that 25 guys trying to fish would have to be a friendly bunch.

Hi denchen, Thanks for your reply. So I guess 7 friends fishing is not going to make us sink on Saturday:-) 25 guys hmm well if they all bring 2 beers I might consider invites.
Cheers
Dan
Ps. but I still think it's very strange I'm unable to find any limiations other than engine related stuff. I used to be in the airline aviation business and these birds have more written limitations than thrust. Even my old motorcycle s have Max load here and there.
Cheers

Since we don´t have any real limits on the Albin 25, it would be nice if someone could share their practical experience of how many guest they have had onboard and returned safely to port:-)?
Cheers

I would not think 7 guys would be anywhere near the maximum load for a 25, although I have noticed with mine that extra weight really slows down my boat. Good luck with the fishing I was out last weekend on the opposite side of the North Sea than you and the fishing was poor.

Re: Albin 25 Max POB? Max weight?
One person per foot of boat might work for 'boats' 150 to 200 feet or longer (a 1,000 foot aircraft carrier can carry about 5,000 people) but 16 people in a 16' skiff is more than twice too many. Most smaller boats have a maximum payload rated in pounds and/or persons. My J-16 Carolina skiff (which is unsinkable) is rated for 5 persons and 650 pounds, so 'one person per foot' is more than 3X too many
I would think 8 adults would be about the max for a A-25, but as you say, they'd better all be good friends

I think that the boat will handle more than the persons onboard. Meaning that it would make for a not so fun day to have a guy sitting on your lap.

Maryland State Boating Act: Keep the load low and evenly distributed. Do not exceed the capacity label. If there is no capacity label use the following formula to determine the maximum number of persons you can safely carry in calm water.
People = (Length of boat X Width)/15
Feds have upped the average weight per person to be 185 lbs for inspected vessels when doing calculations base on weight capacity. Also, the type of water one is in is another consideration...
Safety first - Don't forget the life jacket rules as well as vessel safety equipment rules...
Bottom line constraint may be the mobility of the people on board to be comfortable...
Have fun,
