Re: Bad look
The look? Color? Name?
You CAN change the name, just make absolutely sure your follow the proper procedure! Have to keep Neptune and the winds happy!!

Sorry about that. It happens when you
get old. But seems like everyone
figured it out.

No worries.Hopscotch wrote:Sorry about that..
I'm a little skeptical when it comes to the name change too. I'm not big on change in general I guess. But what if the name that comes with the boat absolutely has to go, like it was named after the wife or kids, or a really bad name like "Ship For Brains" then you really don't have a choice, or if the boat was not "good" to the prior owner, then I guess you have nothing to lose.

Re: Bad look
We changed the name on our 27 Amberjack without a ceremony and 4 years later it burned to the waterline and then sunk.
We also changed the name of our 31TE but not without the ceremony asking the permission of Neptune and the wine and speech to go along with it.
So far so good. Amber JJ

PLEASE, please tell me this is a spoof. Do we really believe there are Gods waiting in the water to smite us if we do not pray to them and pour alcohol in the water. I'm sure this is a gag but it is possible Hopscotch was asking a serious question? There is a time to talk about the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, and a time not too. I probably need to grab a cold one an lighten up. Joke right? Mark

Anyone with an ounce of seawater in their veins will tell you this, bit like having bananas on a boat.
Not sure how that works for boats delivering bananas though?!?

Re: Bad look
Thank you, this boat naming and the required god appeasement thing has to be a spoof, no bananas on a boat? One thing though I absolutely agree with is the fact that there is no salt water in my veins, have donated blood to many times with none found. Mark

Re: Bad look
We renamed our first boat not realizing there was a ritual that one must go through. Our first summer we had a ripped rubber bellow(?) around the I/O and just about sank us in the middle of the lake. Ruined 2 props and one skeg...human error....or was it? Sitting docked, not doing anything, our windshield just cracked. All bad luck? Hmmmm....just saying We traded the boat in for a brand new 24' pocket cruiser and named it "All Hours". Never had a problem

Re: Bad look
good morning If you want to see some funny stuff google boat rename ceremonies . we took a rusty saw blade and sent old father Neptune a change of name notice with old name and new and a request for safety and protection scratched onto the blade and delivered it off Sandy Hook N J. to Tree I now the English would never be seen dancing naked under an oak tree or anything like that...

Re: Bad look
Mudskipper, I may have to change my formally held position on boat renaming cermonys, never thought about naked dancing. Mark
