28 TE w/ Yanmar 6LP - RPM/GPH/Speed Chart

Post by Mntry_Goodson »

As requested in another Topic, find attached a chart that was on my 1999 28 TE when I purchased it in 2008. I don't know it's origin but can confirm that on long trips down the Pacific coast that the numbers are pretty accurate. Over a 12 month period while traveling around the Mexican Baja from San Diego, my typical cruising speed was 8 knots (tuna trolling speed) which consistantly produced 2.5 nautical miles per gallon of fuel. There were occasions with favorable wind/swell conditions where it exceeded this.

I should also add that the power train includes the "Velvet V Drive" with a 2:1 ratio.

Those number seem just about right to me also - it doesn't seem to make a huge amount of difference from 8 knots upwards how many miles to the gallon the boat returns.
