Re: Yanmar 3gm30f
I had one in a 15,000 lb 34' sailboat - Great engine!
With a 16 X 12 two blade prop, it would cruise at about 6.5 knots at 2700 RPM and use about half a gallon an hour. Since you say you have the '30F' then it's freshwater cooled, so temperature won't be an issue - They cool very well
How yours would perform in an Albin 25 will depend on what transmission ratio you have. They came with either a 2.36, a 2.61 or a 3.20 ratio. My sailboat had the 2.61 ratio

Don, I will look at the transmission to see which one I have , I was told to keep at 160 degrees , but I think that is low ,at 2900 rpm I get 180 degrees and it seems to run find,Jim

Re: Yanmar 3gm30f
Mine had a 180 degree thermostat, so it ran at that temp all the time. Never saw it get any hotter
The cast iron mixing elbow was the weakest point on that engine - I replaced mine twice. Newer ones are now cast bronze, but they are expensive
Hopefully you have the 2.36 gear on yours - More practical for a power boat, but if you have a lower ratio, you could always go with more prop which would improve your efficiency

Re: Yanmar 3gm30f
I have a 1986 Yanmar 3GM30F in my 1971 A25 "La Dolce Vita". I am on the boat right now, posting from Poet's Cove Marina in Bedwell Harbour, S. Pender Island in the Gulf Islands, BC. My wife and I have been cruising the San Juans and Gulf Islands since June 22nd after trailering 1700 miles from Phoenix, AZ to Bellingham, WA. We also attended the Pacific NW rendezvous at Roche Harbor, San Juan Island. I run my engine at 2,300 RPM for 6.3 to 6.5 kts. Fuel consumption is 0.4 t 0.5 gph. So far on this cruise we have run 48 hrs on the engine and have purchased 19.2 gallons and have 5 hrs on the engine since last fillup & gage reads 7/8th full, or about 2.5 gallons down from full. We have I believe a 17" prop.

Re: Yanmar 3gm30f
Ps, my instrument panel only has idiot lights, so I never know actual temperature, only know if it's overheating if/when the alarm goes off. Adding gages is on my project list as we've only owned this boat since March.

Re: Yanmar 3gm30f
we run a 2gm, freshwater cooled, no temp problems ever. use between .26 gal/hr and .33 gal/hr between 1750 rpm and 2100 rpm. speed is 5-6 knots, the slow speed we like. at 2400 we get 7+ knots, which is faster than we wish.

DesertAlbin736: Well you two have a nice long cruise in the NW. We all enjoyed having you at the PNW Rendezvous this year,
Hope you can return next - although that is some commute.
