Re: Serial.hull number location?
Mine is stamped into a cast Bronze plate mounted over the aft cabin companionway. Our A-25 is also 1976.

Re: Serial.hull number location?
I think I would have noticed that but I'll check there when I can get to the boat. Waiting for the hauler, and my access ladder is now absent!

Ours is on a bronze plaque under the wheel. No. 1159, a 1972 A25.

Re: Serial.hull number location?
Our boat also has a bronze nameplate plaque on the dash under the steering wheel, #736, 1971 A25. But, if built in 1972 or later, should have a full format Hull ID number etched or cast into the upper starboard corner of the transom. If pre-'72, should have had a hull ID number in current format assigned at some point and etched into the upper starboard transom location when registered. The old bronze hull number is not a valid legal hull ID for registration purposes.

OK based on the info in this thread even *I* ought to be able to find the number, assuming it hasn't been removed. Cannot get access for a few days yet.

Re: Serial.hull number location?
Just finished the USCG About Boating Safely course so the Captain can legally drive her boat here in Washington and the comment of Hull Identification Number came up. Ours is a 1973, allegedly, Deluxe A25, with most of its features matching descriptions of Deluxe models. I have read most of the posts and I think mine should have a number stamped on the upper right transom, visible from the rear of the boat. I can't find it there. There is no paint on the original fiberglass at this location.
What is interesting is that my title has a HIN on it and none of the numbers correspond to the production number on the plate at the helm. We hold the third Washington State Title that has been issued and the HIN is simply passed on with no inspection and verification required. I would never buy a car or motorcycle without verifying but it looks like we bought a boat that way. Oops.
This raises a few questions, the pertinent one being, does anyone know of another location to look for the HIN on this vessel?
Or, as Steve suggests, it was assigned an official 75 digit HIN when imported from BC, but never etched into the transom. Hmmm... Sharpie isn't good enough, eh?

Re: Serial.hull number location?
Iron Jack is a 1970 A25 and the only number is on the bronze plate under the wheel. I don't believe you will find the number on the transom. The number on the bronze plate is really hard to make out but clean it off good and maybe even use a magnifying glass to help. Maybe by 1973 they started stamping the long digit number on the transom but it would surprise me and remember these boats were not made in the USA.

Re: Serial.hull number location?
When we registered our boat in AZ the dept of Game & Fish generated a new HIN number that I then etched into the transom, like one would for a home built boat.

Re: Serial.hull number location?
Our 1975 deluxe has the bronze plate with serial # under the wheel at the helm. It also has a stainless stamped tag with an Ohio HIN (that doesn't match the title) attached to the shelves in the aft cabin. If I remember right it also has a cast in HIN in the stbd. transom.
Our boat has lived a long hard life, I understand it was abandoned at least once. I have found dock damage on most of the hull. This boat has been around for some pretty wicked storms and hurricanes.
