Replacement Flying Bridge 'windshield'

Post by Halcyon »

PICT0004.JPG
Hi, the short plastic wind screen on the front of the flying bridge on my 35 TE is cracked and faded. I tracked down the OEM supplier and they no longer had the 'drape mould' it was bent over.

Surprisingly, I am not getting any suggestions from the yard that maintains the boat and the internet hasn't revealed anything helpful.

If anyone out there has replaced theirs please let me know how you did it!

There are industrial manufacturers/small shoips that make things out of lexan, and polycarbonate, etc. Making something using your existing would be not too hard of a job for them.

Halycon: Since you have the old one for a mold it should be possible to reproduce another. Let us know how it goes. Doug and I could be next.

I'll be interested to hear! Mine had some over winter damage last year and no amount of polishing has been able to remove the blemishes.

I was also admiring your "Fly bridge Stripe". Ours is all white and I think it needs a something to break up the visual. Is yours painted on or a wide tape stripe? Can you post a picture (maybe in a different post) of how it wraps the corners and how it finishes up aft?

I have the same stripe as Halcyon and mine is paint. Its getting pretty faded so I am thinking about what to do about it.

Thanks. I was thinking it was probably paint given the curves and angles.

Since you already have a stripe it should be an easy thing to tape it off, have at it with a small sander, and repaint it with boot stripe paint.
