Pete: I have my boat in Clinton. (28TE with Peninsular). I don't know of any guys close by, so if you find out, please holler.

Kenny Hilton in RI, Standish Boat Works, may be your best bet. They're in Tiverton, RI.

Thanks John, I called up there and his wife said not to buy an Albin with a penninsular, for how many years have you been owning a penninsular without needing a mechanic?im hoping a truck diesel buddy of mine can help me out

The begging open question is "Why". I'm very curious to what she said to support that statement? Please share if you would.

Thanks and good luck in your search.

After all these years I'm still surprised to hear people saying that. That's like Ralph Nader's wife saying don't buy a Corvair. If you talk to owners you will hear a different (better) story.

So far no one I've called has anything good to say about penninsular ,but they never have a specific reason why,,I'm getting a 1996 28te with Penninsular 300hp Surveyed in Annapolis next week, clock shows under 300hrs, boat is spotless, green hull is like a mirror, if it doesn't belch smoke on me at the sea trial,I'm having it dragged home to Ct!
Who works on these in near Groton Ct? How loud are they (wife friendly)??

Dragged home? That's the perfect run home. Is she equipped with her own trailer?

clock shows under 300hrs
That would be my only concern. Is that a replacement or the original motor? That's really low hours if the original. Spend a few hundred for a mechanics survey. Even if the previous owner used it lightly, around 30 hours a season, it would have 500+ hours. Ask the owner if he fixed the clum relay. (hot starting issue)
Search the board for more information.

No trailer, I think a run of 340 miles would be a risky trip with a new boat, it would be fun but, kind of a long shakedown cruise,

We bought our 28 in Kent Island MD and brought her home over a long weekend. C&D Canal, to Cape May, then up to New York Harbor, and home. Add a day for the ride up to Groton. I'd do that in a heartbeat! :)

As an Administrative note, since this post has evolved from a general WTB to a more narrative one I'll be moving it to the TE forum.
