A Reminder Why I Took The Plunge And Imported A 28TE

Post by Tree »

Yesterday, English Channel 35 miles out fishing for cod, pollack and bass on the wreck of a 1912 German U boat

Weather was supposed to be 10~ mph NE going SE down to 5~mph - perfect conditions for what should have been a great days fishing. Unfortunately the weather changed to due North and 24 mph was recorded about a force 5 gusting 6 at times.

The 28 just took it in its stride, at no point did I feel concerned about the boat or our safety - 3300 rpm on the dial pushing 15-16 knots head into it.

One downside was I found where all the leaks are on the windows!

Both myself and my buddy were extremely impressed and it is only in bad weather you remember how good they are.

Anyway, little bit of footage, not from mid channel but the last miles back in sheltered waters of myself and my buddies newer 2005 28 he has just bought (he currently has 2 28's!)

This is the funny part - 70 mile round trip for one pollack that may have made 5lb! My buddy stopped off 1/4 mile from his berth in the harbour, put a bait over the side and had a bass that weight 7lb 6oz when gutted!

Yeah, that's fishing. Give thanks that you were not out there in a center cockpit when that wind came up.
